Celebrating a Special Volunteer at SimplyBe Coffee
At Tree of Life Ministries’ annual Volunteer Dinner, we were honored to recognize Max Miller as the SimplyBe Coffee Volunteer of the Year. A longtime volunteer and customer favorite, Max brings a friendly, welcoming spirit to SimplyBe and has become an important part of what makes the coffee shop such a special place.
Max’s easy-going personality and genuine care for others help create the warm, welcoming atmosphere that SimplyBe Coffee is known for. We are grateful for the time, energy, and joy he brings to the shop and for the many ways volunteers like Max help SimplyBe live out its mission.
About SimplyBe Coffee
SimplyBe Coffee is a Gospel Enterprise of Tree of Life Ministries, providing quality coffee and a welcoming community while creating meaningful work opportunities for adults and individuals with disabilities. With locations in Leesburg and Purcellville, SimplyBe is more than a coffee shop—it is a place where people can connect, build relationships, develop skills, and experience the love of Jesus through community and meaningful work.
July 24, 2026 – A new coffee shop in Purcellville and clothing boutique in Middleburg recently marked their expansion as part of the nonprofit Tree of Life Ministries, according to CEO Susannah Lee.
Simply Be Coffee, located inside the Giant Food store on Main Street in Purcellville, is the shop’s second location. It opened May 22 and joins the Simply Be Leesburg shop at 208 Church St., which opened in 2023.
Lee describes it as “coffee with a cause,” as the shop employs individuals with disabilities and provides volunteer opportunities as well.

June 25, 2026 – Community members gathered in Purcellville this morning to celebrate the opening of the town’s newest coffee shop.
Nestled near the entrance of the Giant Food, SimplyBeCoffee is an offshoot of nonprofit Tree of Life and serves as a place of employment of individuals with disabilities. This is the shop’s second location, with the first opening in downtown Leesburg in 2020.
“We are so grateful to Giant, and the entire community of support for Tree of Life and SimplyBe Coffee,” TOL CEO Susannah Lee said. “A special thanks to Cindy Welsh, a member of the community and volunteer at Tree of Life, who’s passion for individuals with differing abilities along with Will Overton, Giant Store Manager had the incredible idea to take this 800 square foot of former bank space and transform it into a second location of SimplyBe Coffee—a place for individuals to simply be and feel welcome and valued.”
