Tree of Life Opens New Eastern Loudoun Center to Better Serve Local Families

Ashburn, VA – May 8, 2025 – Tree of Life Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit committed to serving families across Loudoun County, is proud to announce the official opening of its new Eastern Loudoun Center in Ashburn, Virginia.

This move consolidates the organization’s former Sterling and Leesburg locations into a single, larger facility designed to improve operational efficiency, expand outreach, and better serve communities in need, including underserved areas such as Chantilly and South Riding. The community celebrated with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony hosted by the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, May 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the new center on 45189 Research Place in Ashburn.

“Consolidating our two Eastern Loudoun pantries into one was no small feat,” said Susannah Lee, CEO of Tree of Life at the ceremony. “We wanted to do this to give our volunteers, community, and partners one place to come together. So many people have spent tireless hours making this happen and we could not have done this without them.”

The new Ashburn center offers significantly more space than the combined footprint of Tree of Life’s former Sterling and Leesburg locations, positioning the organization for continued growth while also reducing monthly costs. More than just a food pantry, the facility features dedicated office space for the Eastern Loudoun team, a fully equipped conference room, and additional amenities that support collaboration, volunteer coordination, and partner services, all under one roof.

Vice Chair and Ashburn District Supervisor Michael R. Turner, who attended the event, shared his perspective on the importance of nonprofit work in the current climate. “We’re living in turbulent times,” he said. “The work of our non-profit communities, particularly in Loudoun County, which has a robust public service community, is absolutely essential. It must serve as our North Star to guide us through these turbulent waters. Tree of Life is a full-fledged, enthusiastic, and highly respected partner in that journey, and we are very happy to support you in these efforts.”

After lightheartedly noting the many ribbon-cutting ceremonies he’s attended on behalf of Tree of Life, Tony Howard, President and CEO of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, reflected on the deeper significance of the moment. “The reason we’re opening so many centers,” he said, “is because—as Vice Chair Turner so eloquently put it—we rely heavily on our nonprofit community here in Loudoun County.” He went on to share a quote from Lynn Tadlock, former Executive Director of the Claude Moore Foundation: “A healthy community is like a three-legged stool. You need a strong public sector, a strong business sector, and a strong nonprofit sector. If any one of those legs is weak, the entire stool becomes unstable.”

As Tree of Life Ministries embarks on this exciting new chapter with the opening of the Eastern Loudoun Center and the ability to serve the local community more broadly, it serves as a reminder of the importance that nonprofits hold in our community and the power that comes from working together for the common good.

About Tree of Life Ministries

Tree of Life was founded in 2008 to reach out to the poor and needy in our community with the love of Jesus Christ. At that time our service area covered only Western Loudoun. Over the course of the last 15 years, not only have we expanded to serve all of Loudoun County, with offices and food pantries Eastern Loudoun, but we have increased our transitional housing opportunities, opened two Gospel Enterprises, SimplyBe Coffee, and The Clothing Closet, and have the support of more than 40 churches across the county, as well as businesses, local government, and the wider community. Since its inception, Tree of Life has made over 200,000 service impacts across our five branches; food, lifeskills, shelter, healthcare, and relief, with more than 36,000 of those impacts occurring in 2024 – the highest ever.
