Boxes of Blessings Ministry
Tree of Life is delighted to announce the start of a new ministry under the Food Branch in our Eastern Loudoun Region – Boxes of Blessings.
This ministry came to us from a dedicated group of volunteers that have been feeding those in need in the Sterling area since 2018, as part of a separate nonprofit, providing weekly boxes of primarily fresh food. When the time for that organization came to an end, these amazing volunteers sought a way to continue to provide for the families that they have developed relationships with over the past 7 years.
They initially connected with Tree of Life to share our resources with the families, including grocery deliveries and community dinners, as their ministry came to an end. The team of volunteers though continued to seek a way to maintain this program and decided to reach out to Tree of Life again.
Tree of Life’s Food Branch is well acquainted with the food insecurity that exists in Loudoun, having provided nearly 150,000 lbs. of groceries and 11,000 meals in 2024. When the volunteer team proposed this new ministry, we saw it as an invaluable opportunity to help more people struggling in Loudoun, expand our food services, and be able to provide additional fresh food on a weekly basis, complementing our monthly food deliveries.
Additionally, it provides another “touch point” with those we serve to deepen relationships as well as offer our other services to the families that have been receiving the food boxes and provide them with a “hand up.”
We are excited to welcome these volunteers into the Tree of Life family, including our new Boxes of Blessing Ministry Leader, Alex Shernoff. The ministry will kick off on September 15th at our Eastern Loudoun Pantry in Ashburn providing boxes filled with fresh foods to families in need under the dedicated stewardship of Tree of Life’s newest volunteers!
