A Busy Start to The Year for Daybreak

When people hear about Tree of Life, they may not realize that this local nonprofit is much more than a food pantry. As a Christian 501(c)(3) organization, Tree of Life serves all of Loudoun County by addressing five key areas of need: food, lifeskills, shelter, healthcare, and relief. With a mission to provide a hand-up rather than a handout, Tree of Life is committed to transforming lives through compassionate service.

In Purcellville, Tree of Life operates a food pantry and hosts weekly community dinners, also held in Leesburg and Sterling. The organization is excited to announce that a second food pantry will be opening and operational in Ashburn this spring. Beyond meals and essential resources, Tree of Life offers a variety of programs and events throughout the year for every branch of their ministry. More details can be found at tolministries.org/events.

One of the unique ministries, Daybreak, falls under the relief branch and focuses on servin   g adults 55+. Through social gatherings, Bible studies, community support and encouragement, Daybreak provides a space for connection and support. On February 25 from 11am-2pm, Tree of Life hosted its second annual Tech Event at the Purcellville location, designed specifically for senior adults. Volunteers from the Woodgrove Fellowship Club will be on hand to assist with questions about electronic devices, including updates, apps, and programs. While this is not a repair event, it’s a wonderful opportunity for seniors to gain confidence in using their technology. More information can be found here: Day Break Tech Event – Tree of Life

Last year, the Woodgrove Fellowship Club presented incredibly helpful information about smart phone features and troubleshooting them. The students also worked one-on-one with attendees to answer their individual questions. It was a great time connecting across generations and sharing knowledge.

This event will be the second major event for Daybreak of the year, following a chili cook-off that took place at Purcellville Baptist Church with a full house including 35 attendees, 8 chili entries, lots of sports trivia, and 4 amazing speakers. Barry Cates from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the three student speakers that shared their testimony and work with FCA.
