Spiritual Care at Tree of Life

At Tree of Life, our core values are at the center of all we do and help guide each step along the way as we reach out to those in need with the love of Jesus Christ. Spiritual Care is integral to staying true to these values.

Jesus Christ is Foremost

“No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:39)

Jesus stands at the forefront of our ministry, and we believe that practical care opens the door to helping others find true freedom in Christ. We incorporate the Gospel in all areas of ministry – whether it be large events where guests hear a Gospel message or smaller settings where volunteers pray with someone they are serving or share a meal and their testimony. Our Spiritual Care ministry, and more specifically our Chaplains, help lead these efforts and focus on keeping Jesus at the heart of Tree of Life.

Prayer and Word of God are Foundational

“Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.” (Col. 3:16)

“Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart.” (Col. 4:2)

Prayer and God’s Word provide the foundation for every decision we make as a Ministry. These are valuable resources in the Kingdom to point others to Jesus and show them how much He loves us. Here are just a few of the ways we do this:

Our Prayer and Care Team reaches out to our partners weekly to pray over their specific prayer requests, sending cards to those going through hard times.

We provide free Bibles to everyone who receives a food delivery for the first time, and hand out Bibles at all of our events.

We send out a weekly email devotional and provide daily devotionals during Advent and Lent.

We post inspirational content on our Hope for Today Facebook site that provides a verse of the day, devotionals and other blessings!

Relationship is for All

“So we tell others about Christ, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all the wisdom God has given us. We want to present them to God, perfect in their relationship to Christ.” (Col. 1:28)

Our focus on relationships is another way Tree of Life stands out from other nonprofits. We call those we serve “partners” because that is what we hope to make them – partners in creating a better life, one that is independent, self-sufficient, and focused on Christ. These relationships are built through the unique models we use in each our ministry areas.

We reach out in places to find people unappreciated and undervalued, specifically with adults with special needs and the local jail. We provide Chaplain visits and Bible Studies to help them see that there is hope for everyone, and that God loves all of us.

Compassion is Fundamental

“He will have compassion on the poor and needy, and He will save the lives of the needy.” (Psalm 72:13)

We reach out to give compassion to senior adults to show that they too are blessed and valued by God. This includes regular Bible Studies, Worship Services and Chaplain Visits to four nursing homes. We also provide Bible Studies for seniors who meet together for study and fellowship and visit partners who are homebound.

Community is our Front Line

“Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts.” (Acts. 2:46)

Reaching out to those in need in our community with the love of Christ is our purpose. We cannot care for those in need without being closely involved with our local community or without your help!
