2nd Annual TopGolf Fundraiser

On September 6th, we held our second annual TopGolf Fundraiser. It was a GREAT day! We are so thankful for the 100 supporters who joined us for a terrific time! A special thank you to our Golf Sponsor, Olivia’s Pet Services, and Bay Sponsors, Clarion Wealth Management PartnersAtoka Properties, and CLEGG & Co! Thanks to the community’s generosity, we achieved our $5K fundraising goal! We hope to use these funds for the glory of God.

Sterling’s Free Dental Clinic

Our Sterling Center conducted a hugely successful Kids Dental Clinic and MORE on Sept. 11th:

• 37 children received free dental care by Joon & Julie Coe of Dental Innovations of Virginia
• 23 received free haircuts
• The Gospel message was presented to all participants
• Free clothing, Bibles and backpacks were given to all the families
• Children were entertained with a Gospel craft and face painting

We are so grateful to the army of volunteers who made the event flow seamlessly and for the major contributions from our sponsoring churches: Reston Bible Church, McLean Bible Church – Loudoun Campus, Christ Community Church, and Cornerstone Chapel. Thank you also to The Dons’ Wood-Fired Pizza for providing lunch!

Annual Volunteer Recognition Picnic

Every year, we set aside a special time to serve our volunteers and recognize their contributions at our Volunteer Recognition Picnic. On September 25th, we gathered on the grounds of Leesburg Community Church and served a crowd of 85 with a BBQ dinner! Each region presented awards to special individuals who have gone above and beyond in their volunteer service across the year.

Thank you to ALL of our volunteers, without whom we could not impact the community with the love of Jesus Christ!

SimplyBe Coffee’s New Manager

We are delighted to introduce you to SimplyBe Coffee‘s new manager, Tara Kennedy!  Tara is a beautiful example of how a volunteer position can become a full-time job! She started as a volunteer then became the Saturday Shift Supervisor, and now she’s Manager! Tara has been an advocate for the special needs community since she was a teen, working in her church nursery and Sunday school in her Michigan hometown. Over the years she has worked privately for special needs families and currently serves her local PTA as the Special Education Advisory Committee representative.

From her childhood experience in physical therapy for juvenile arthritis, Tara recalls:  “I could tell those who were there just for a job and those whose hearts were in it and truly wanted to see me succeed. I knew right away I wanted to be the heart. I want everyone I work with to know that no matter where their abilities lie, my heart is in it and I am there to see them succeed.” In her spare time Tara enjoys photography, supporting her local community and loves to camp with her husband, son, daughter, and two dogs! Her favorite SBC drink is a Pumpkin Spice Latte – come join her for one!

Paul instructs Timothy to “guard what has been entrusted to your care” (1 Timothy 6:20).  At Tree of Life, we take caring very seriously, knowing that God has entrusted many people in need to our care. For the past year and a half, we have been diligently caring for our partners through our CARE Team.

Through incoming prayer requests, we select partners who are alone, stressed or depressed in order to be able to reach out to them a few times a month. Our CARE Volunteers reach out to their assigned partners for fellowship, prayer and spiritual growth. This level of caring has made an incredible difference in the lives of these partners. Currently, we have 16 CARE Volunteers caring for 50 partners.

Would you like to be part of our CARE Team?  Please let us know by emailing chaplain@tolministries.org.

May you be blessed,
Chaplain Wayne Ruckman
