Preach the Gospel

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel.” (Mark 16:15)

The command from Jesus is inseparable from our Tree of Life Purpose. The reason we open our doors every day is to: reach out to the poor and needy in our community with the love of Jesus Christ. Put differently, we preach the gospel.

Francis of Assisi is credited with the advice to preach the gospel daily and where necessary, use words. At TOL, we have the joy of doing both:

Purcellville – more than 10 years ago, we delivered food to a mom and her son in Lovettsville. Very recently, this same young man was attending a Bible study hosted by one of our TOL leaders. He gave his life to Christ and in doing so, shared how much that food delivery had impacted him a decade ago. The gospel was preached.

Winchester – rain or shine, for almost 14 years, TOL has served a monthly meal at the Salvation Army homeless shelter. Countless men, women and children have been impacted with the love of Jesus Christ – both in word and in deed. The gospel has been preached.

Sterling – the very first food pantry delivery was received in June by the sister of the intended recipient. When the sister saw the extent of food, she could not control her emotions and just wept. Together, without knowledge of each other’s language, the delivery team prayed with the sister and all wept for joy. The gospel was preached.

Leesburg– a small team set aside a morning to deliver TOL flyers to a hidden trailer park in Leesburg. On half a dozen occasions, testimony was given in English and Spanish to a handful of residents. The gospel was preached.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us – whether you pray, give or volunteer. Our 5 Branch model impacts the practical needs of our community every day. More importantly, we share the love of Christ as the gospel is preached.
